Get Ready for Gatti-Damgaard

Gatti needs no introduction to even the most casual boxing fan, but what’s the word on Thomas Damgaard? Outside of Denmark, there doesn’t seem to be much word at all. The Danish southpaw has built an impressive 37-0 (27) record, but he’s never fought outside his home country and his opponent list isn’t exactly a who’s who of boxing.

I don’t make picks when I haven’t seen both boxers, but I have to admit I have some doubts about Gatti going into this one. Granted, Mayweather Jr. is capable of making most fighters look slow, but Thunder looked older than his 33 years in that bout. Whether Gatti can pull off another one or not, Damgaard, whose nickname is Lovehjerte (Lionheart), will meet the real deal on Saturday night.
