It took Antonio Margarito’s right hand 74 seconds to take out Manuel Gomez and retain the WBO welterweight title last night.
Margarito, whose record now stands at 33-4 (25), will no doubt want a shot at the winner of Mayweather-Judah. His fan base will surely grow even larger after the impressive win over Gomez, but the win may also reinforce his reputation as a fighter too dangerous to touch.
Brian Viloria was also on last night’s card. He outpointed Jose Antonio Aguirre to retain his WBC light flyweight championship, improving his record to 19-0 (12).
Maxboxing’s Doug Fischer has a great recap of the entire card.
